Here’s how to freshen up a dated design into a modern look.
I’m sure we all have dresses in the wardrobe that could do with a facelift. This is one I made at least ten years ago that had a distinctly dated look. It felt far too long as the proportions of the bodice and the flounces took it to below calf length. However the beautiful lace fabric was still in excellent condition so well worth the time needed to give it a modern look.
I cut the neckline lower at the front and back and re-shaped the cap sleeve into a strappy style.
The bodice was shortened and the flounces too, before attaching pink satin edges to the upper flounce and an additional flounce to the underskirt to make a three tier design.
